The rise in sea level will alter the morphology of the Italian coasts over the next 80 years. A recent study predicts that up to 5500 square kilometers of coastal plains could end up under water, revealing an Italy at the end of the century very different from the one we know.
The average sea level rose by about 15 cm from the eighteenth century to the present, and most of this change was recorded from the middle of the twentieth century. The recent report on global climate change has highlighted the risks caused by rising sea levels worldwide. Even limiting significantly the gases responsible for global warming emissions are...
Today November 28, 2016, EcoLife project is honored within the section "Economie - consumi lavoro risparmio innovazione" of the weekly magazine "Il Venerdì di Repubblica".
EcoLife helped to fight climate change by safeguarding the money. The project achieved an extraordinary result: 24,075,813 kg of CO2 equivalent not emitted into the atmosphere, with an overall cost savings that exceeded € 8.7 million.
Today concludes the project "EcoLife - Ecological Lifestyles for CO2 Reduction" LIFE12 INF / IT / 000,465, co-funded by the European Commission through the LIFE + 2012 Information and Communication. Started October 1, 2013, for 3 years the project has structured a sustainable information campaign aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions (primarily...

The project "EcoLife - Ecological Lifestyles for CO2 Reduction" LIFE12 INF/IT/000465, co-funded by the European Commission through the LIFE + Information and Communication 2012, ends this month. Started October 1, 2013, for 3 years the project has structured a sustainable long-term information campaign, aimed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions (primarily carbon dioxide, the most harmful to the environment), through the adoption of simple tips for a style new and more sustainable life.
the project was able to achieve an extraordinary...
Historically, many species moved great distances as climates changed. However, modern movements willbe limited by the patterns of human-dominated landscapes. Here, we use a combination of projected cli-mate-driven shifts in the distributions of 2903 vertebrate species, estimated current human impacts on thelandscape, and movement models, to determine through which areas in the western hemisphere species willlikely need to move to track suitable climates. Our results reveal areas with projected high densities of cli-mate-driven movements – including, the Amazon Basin, the southeastern United States and southeasternBrazil...
A cow does on overage release between 70 and 120 kg of Methane per year. Methane is a greenhouse gas like carbon dioxide (CO2). But the negative effect on the climate of Methane is 23 times higher than the effect of CO2. Therefore the release of about 100 kg Methane per year for each cow is equivalent to about 2'300 kg CO2 per year.
Let's compare this value of 2'300 kg CO2: The same amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) is generated by burning 1'000 liters of petrol. With a car using 8 liters of petrol per 100 km, you could drive 12'500 km per year (7'800 miles per year).
World-wide, there are...
On top of the world, by a fjord in western Greenland, a remote hydro power plant is buzzing with extra water from the melt of ancient glaciers. This island at ground zero of global warming is seeking to be one of the few places on Earth to benefit.
Outside the Buksefjord plant, the biggest of five hydro-electricity stations built in Greenland since 1993 in a push to move away from imported oil, cod that usually only thrive further south can be seen swimming in the clear water.
And a worker at the facility is preparing to grow potatoes and turnips on land close to the...
